I love wearing gym clothes. I wear them for running errands in Dubai, on my layovers for sightseeing. And yes, to the gym. Activewear is quite possibly my favourite trend.
But I wasn’t always this way. The very idea of wearing gym clothes outside of the gym haunted me. So much so, that I used to change before and after my workouts. It wasn’t until I started being comfortable going to the gym, that I became comfortable wearing gym clothes. Well, that and some help from Lorna Jane. Eventually, activewear became part of my everyday wardrobe.
Activewear For Working Out
One of the region’s top athletes, Manal Rostom, once told me that a key element of working out is to look good whilst doing it (read her tips on how to become a runner here). But it’s important that you don’t compromise quality for cuteness. We all know that the best kind of workout partner is supportive activewear. So opt for fabrics that will keep you feeling cool and comfortable throughout the duration of your workout, to help you push out an extra rep.
Activewear For Work
Working activewear into your office wardrobe can be a challenge depending on your work environment. But from board meetings to client lunches, the aim of a work ensemble is comfort and professionalism. Get creative and throw a blazer on over a comfy cotton tee and pair some heels with a pair of plain black tights.
Activewear For Everyday
Long lunches, a trip to the supermarket, an afternoon spent doing ‘life admin’. Whatever you to-do list, wearing a comfy outfit makes everything so much easier. The same rules from the office can apply here depending on how casual you want to look. Team tights with flip-flops or a comfy top with jeans. Opt for a medium support sports bra for added comfort.
We all seem to be so time poor these days so combining looks can really save time. Wear trainers for running errands and switch to a nice pair of sandals for lunch with the girls.
Final Words of Wisdom
The ultimate dream goal is to look sporty chic but still comfortable.
- Balance it out, match bold prints with simple styles and muted colours
- Plain tanks and tights allow you to layer more statement pieces over the top
- Add a few key accessories to your active outfit to really pull together your look
- Carry dry shampoo and body wipes if you’re dashing straight from a workout

Obviously this is a sponsored post as it is all about Lorna Jane. However, I did not receive anything for this post. I approached the brand after discovering their personal shopper service to help write this article. In fact, due to the amount of Lorna Jane I actually own, I should probably have shares in the company.
